A Friend of a Friend

Even Christopher was smart enough not to mess with a six foot eight pissed off alien. I never said he was stupid...just crazy. After Christopher's rather hasty exit, my brother proceeded to drill me on how the other women on Earth looked.

My brother loves the female species. I could tell some stories about the girl he dated from alpha five with the six breasts, or the girl from Hespaeta with the two.....On second thought, I'm not gonna talk about it.

"You know Terra, you're looking kind of stressed. Maybe we should go out for a drink to loosen you up." That's code for - take me out and let me scope the women.

"No I'm fine really. " He gave me a skeptical look. "What you need is to go out and relax." I told him no but he kept bugging me until I finally gave in and took him to Ava's on N Street. I managed to get him in and seated at a table in the back without running into anyone I knew. to get him started, I quickly ordered him four Long Island Iced Teas and sat back to watch the fun begin. As I expected, within 5 minutes of us sitting down, 4 women had approached him. He graciously invited all of them to sit at our table. Not a good move with Earth women, but he managed to keep them all in line.

I was too sober to watch him have all the fun. I looked around for a waiter to get another drink, but nobody was in sight. Sighing, I fought my way through the crowd to the bar. I had just managed to squeeze into a spot between a girl wearing a purple leotard and a guy with a mole the size of a giant cocoa puff, when I felt a chill in the air. I looked up, wondering if they had turned on the air-conditioning. I glanced over my left shoulder and saw a guy staring at me. I decided to ignore him. I wasn't here to pick up or be picked up.

I finally got my drink and started back through the crowd when he appeared in front of me. I automatically went on the defensive when I realized that the cold was coming from him.

"Who are you?" I asked. He shrugged. "Right now, you can consider me a friend. Or should I say, a friend of a friend?"

He glanced around before continuing. "I'm offering the services of myself and a few friends with the "problem" you guys have been having. You see, your problem affects us also. So the best thing is for us to help you."

I shook my head. "Who in the hell are you?"

He shrugged. "Just call me Bitter."
